How Logo Embedding Works
QR codes have built-in error correction that allows them to be scanned even when partially obscured. SnapGlyph takes advantage of this by placing your logo in the center where it covers some of the data modules.
The QR code automatically adjusts its error correction level to ensure it remains scannable with your logo.
Adding a Logo
Step 1: Upload Your Image
- In the QR code builder, find the Logo section
- Click Upload Logo or drag and drop an image
- Supported formats: PNG, JPG, SVG
Step 2: Adjust Logo Size
Use the Logo Size slider to control how large the logo appears:
- Smaller logos (10-20%): Subtle branding, maximum scannability
- Medium logos (20-30%): Good balance of visibility and reliability
- Larger logos (30-40%): Maximum brand impact, test thoroughly
Step 3: Set Logo Margin
The Logo Margin adds padding around your logo:
- Creates visual separation from the QR pattern
- Improves readability of the logo
- Helps with scannability
Best Practices
Image Quality
- Use high-resolution images: At least 200x200 pixels
- PNG with transparency: Works best for logos with irregular shapes
- SVG format: Scales perfectly at any size
- Simple designs: Complex images may not be visible at small sizes
Logo Size Guidelines
| Use Case | Recommended Size |
|---|---|
| Small QR codes (< 3cm) | 15-20% |
| Medium QR codes (3-6cm) | 20-25% |
| Large QR codes (> 6cm) | 25-35% |
Colors
- Contrast with QR code: Logo should stand out from the pattern
- Consider background: If your logo has transparency, consider the QR background color
- Avoid similar colors: Logo shouldn’t blend into the QR code
Testing Your Logo QR Code
Always test scan your QR code after adding a logo:
- Generate the QR code
- Scan with multiple devices if possible
- Test in different lighting conditions
- Try scanning from various distances
If the QR code doesn’t scan reliably:
- Reduce the logo size
- Increase the logo margin
- Simplify the logo design
- Use a higher contrast color scheme
Removing a Logo
To remove an uploaded logo:
- Find the Logo section
- Click the Remove or X button next to the uploaded image
- The QR code preview will update without the logo
Common Issues
Logo appears pixelated
Upload a higher resolution image (at least 200x200 pixels, ideally 400x400 or larger).
QR code won’t scan
- Reduce logo size to 20% or less
- Increase logo margin
- Ensure high contrast between QR code colors
Logo has white background
Use a PNG file with a transparent background, or match the logo background to your QR code background color.
