Cancelling or downgrading does not delete your work, and it does not make your existing QR codes go dark. This article explains exactly what changes so you know what to expect before you switch.
Your Dynamic Codes Keep Working
When you cancel or move to the Free plan, your dynamic QR codes and short links keep resolving. Anything you have already printed or shared continues to send visitors to the right destination.
To keep long-inactive plans from running forever, each dynamic code on the Free plan is capped at 250 scans (or link visits) per calendar month. The cap is per code, not shared across your account, and it resets at the start of each month. Most codes never come close to it.
This cap never resets your lifetime scan and click totals, so your analytics history stays intact.
What a Visitor Sees Over the Cap
If a single code passes 250 scans in a month while your account is on the Free plan, visitors to that specific code land on a “This code is paused” page instead of the destination. The page explains that the code has reached its monthly limit and will start working again next month, or right away if the owner reactivates their plan.
This is a temporary pause for that one code in that one month. Every code under the cap keeps working normally.
How to Reactivate
There are two ways a paused code comes back:
- Wait for the reset. The monthly count clears at the start of the next calendar month, and the code resumes automatically.
- Upgrade your plan. Moving back to a paid plan lifts the monthly cap immediately, and every paused code starts working again right away.
See Upgrading Your Plan for how to switch.
What Is Retained vs Restricted
When you move to a lower plan, your data stays. QR codes, short links, link hubs, and analytics remain in your account. What changes is access to plan-gated features: capabilities that belong to a higher tier become read-only or unavailable until you upgrade again, and any per-plan limits (such as storage and monthly usage) revert to your new plan’s allowances.
For the full breakdown of what each plan includes, see Understanding Subscription Tiers and Understanding Storage and Usage Limits.
How to Cancel
Cancellation happens from the billing portal, reached through your subscription settings.
- Open Settings and go to the Billing section.
- In the Cancellation card, click Cancel Plan.
- In the confirmation dialog, click Open Billing Portal to finish cancelling there.
After you cancel, you keep your current plan’s access until the end of your billing period. When that period ends, your account moves to the Free plan and the monthly cap described above applies to your dynamic codes.
Only Organization Owners and Admins with billing access can cancel or change the plan.
