Metrics Explained
Total Scans
The all-time number of times your QR code has been scanned. Each scan from a unique session counts as one scan.
Scans Over Time
A chart showing scan activity over a selected time period:
- Daily view: Scans per day
- Weekly view: Scans per week
- Monthly view: Scans per month
Use this to identify:
- Peak activity days
- Trends over time
- Campaign effectiveness
Geographic Distribution
See where your QR codes are being scanned by country. The analytics show top countries by scan count, with a percentage breakdown.
Note: Location is determined by IP address and anonymized. IP addresses are not stored.
Device Breakdown
Understand what devices people use to scan:
- Mobile (most common)
- Tablet
- Desktop (rare for QR scans)
The device breakdown also surfaces operating system and browser splits, which is useful when designing landing pages for the audience that’s actually scanning.
Peak Activity Heatmap
A grid showing scans by day of the week and hour of the day, with darker cells where more scans happen. Use it to spot:
- Which days of the week your QR code gets the most attention
- Time-of-day patterns (lunch rush, after-work commute, weekend mornings)
- Quiet windows you could target with a campaign
This is especially useful for deciding when to publish or boost related content.
Top Performers
A ranked list of your most active QR codes, with name, total scans, recent trend, and a quick link into each code’s detail page. Use it to identify what’s working and copy the approach for new codes.
Using Analytics Effectively
Measure Campaign Performance
Compare scan counts before, during, and after campaigns:
- Note the baseline scan rate
- Launch your campaign
- Monitor daily scans during the campaign
- Compare to baseline after campaign ends
Optimize Placement
If scans are lower than expected:
- Try different physical locations
- Adjust QR code size
- Improve call-to-action text
- Test different heights/angles
Understand Your Audience
Device and location data helps you:
- Optimize landing pages for dominant devices
- Tailor content to geographic regions
- Plan future campaigns based on audience location
A/B Testing
Create multiple tracked QR codes for the same destination:
- Use different designs or placements
- Compare scan rates
- Identify what works best
Dashboard Statistics
Your dashboard shows quick stats:
- Total QR Codes: How many you’ve created
- Total Scans: All-time scans across all QR codes
- Scans (Last 7 Days): Recent activity
Exporting Data
For detailed analysis, you can export your scan data (feature availability may vary by plan).
Privacy Considerations
SnapGlyph respects user privacy:
- No personal data: We don’t collect names, emails, or phone numbers
- Anonymized IPs: IP addresses are hashed, not stored
- Aggregate data: Analytics show patterns, not individuals
- GDPR compliant: Data handling follows privacy regulations
Common Questions
Why don’t scans match my expectations?
- Not all scans may be from real users (bots, testing)
- Some users may scan but not complete the redirect
- Ad blockers can occasionally interfere
Can I see individual scan details?
Analytics show aggregate patterns. Individual scan records include timestamp and general metadata but not personal information.
How quickly do scans appear?
Scans typically appear in analytics within a few minutes.
Do test scans count?
Yes, all scans are counted. Consider this when testing your QR codes.
